History
Presented by Museums of History NSW, Sydney Open is a celebration of architecture and design. The program invites visitors to discover hidden gems across the city and go behind the scenes at places rarely open to the public.
Since 1997, the Sydney Open program has welcomed over 110,000 attendees into some of the citys most architecturally significant and outstanding buildings.
Held annually on the first Sunday in November, the Sydney Openflagship program takes over the CBD, with ticketholders able to access the city’s most remarkable buildings and spaces – from cutting-edge contemporary designs to historic icons that have helped shape Sydney’s skyline and identity.
The Sydney Open program offers a full year of exciting events exploring the diverse and ever-changing architectural landscape of the city – from our intimate Sydney Open Series tours held monthly to our annual Sydney Open Symposium and Parramatta Open, our very first satellite Sydney Open program, to be held on Saturday 29 August.

Parramatta Open was the first instalment of a new event series that takes the much-loved Sydney Open format beyond the Sydney CBD. Over one day, we unlocked the doors to some of Parramatta’s most incredible spaces, from historic gems to towering architectural feats.
