PTW Architects Studio, Aurora Place
A flexible, creative workspace in a sculptural Sydney icon
10am–4pm

About the building
Commissioned by Lendlease to celebrate the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Aurora Place is a distinctive, sculptural landmark that transformed the Sydney skyline. Renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano designed the 41-storey tower that unfurls like a sail towards the sky. In 2023, Cox Architecture refurbished the ground-floor lobby and external piazza while retaining its original spirit and identity.
Located on level 11 of Aurora Place, PTW Architects’ studio showcases the company’s philosophy of implementing flexible, collaborative spaces that nurture the creative process. The kit-of-parts design supports diverse and versatile work settings, and the multipurpose lobby offers stunning views over the Royal Botanic Garden and Sydney Harbour.
PTW Architects’ legacy dates to 1889, when James Peddle established the practice, later inviting Samuel Thorp and Ernest Walker to join him as partners and thereby forming Peddle Thorp & Walker. The architecture and interior design firm is dedicated to improving people’s lives by making better places and is the original architect or later architect for a number of buildings that are part of Sydney Open 2025.
